There's a real team atmosphere in our restaurants. It's a busy and hard-working environment, but we make sure you have some fun too! We offer great flexibility in your working hours, both in terms of the total number of hours you work per week, and your shift patterns, due to the variety of full and part time roles available within each restaurant.

Our Right Track Training Programme makes sure that you have a great start with Burger King®. It is a comprehensive induction and training programme covering everything from Health & Safety and Food Safety through to how we make each of our products, working in the Dining Area, Front Counter or Kitchen.

You will learn all you need to know by working alongside others as well as using our new interactive DVD programmes.

Career opportunities are unlimited. You can train to become a service expert and progress through to a supervisor. Talented supervisors who show drive and ambition to succeed can join our in-house trainee management programme (including our certificated Basic Management Training (BMT) Course), making sure that we have well-trained, experienced managers we need to drive the future success of BURGER KING®.

Restaurant Management

As one of our Managers, you will have real responsibilities early on, together with the opportunity to develop and make a long-term career with BURGER KING®. In this fast-paced environment, your job will involve a great deal of variety, and although it is hard work, it's fun too.

Assistant Manager

As an Assistant Manager or above, you will be responsible for all aspects of the BURGER KING® Restaurant Operation. There are five key business areas that we believe every manager needs to focus on to ensure that their restaurant is run efficiently and achieve the very high standards expected of BURGER KING®:

  • Operations: Delivering top quality products and restaurant cleanliness
  • Financial control: Maximising profits, controlling cash
  • People Management: Driving results through people; providing development & training
  • Sales Building: Maximising sales at every opportunity
  • Customer Service: Delivering the Customer Promise

To join our team, you need to share our passion to deliver our customer promise to every customer, everyday. We recruit potential managers all year round to join our structured training programme, so if you have previously worked in a customer service environment and have at least six months supervisory experience, we welcome your application.

The training programme to suit your needs

Our management training programme is very adaptable depending on your individual needs, and can take as long or as short a period as required. To give you an idea of the content, the programme, laid out over a typical twelve week period, is detailed here.

By the end of the programme you will be able to demonstrate the necessary skills, knowledge and behaviours required to be an Assistant Manager within a BURGER KING® restaurant, ensuring the smooth and consistent delivery of our BURGER KING® brand standards.

Weeks 1-3

  • Gaining product knowledge
  • Learning the job of a crew member
  • Counter service
  • How to make a WHOPPER®!
  • Equipment knowledge
  • Supervisory skills

Weeks 4-5

  • Basic food hygiene
  • Supervisory skills course
  • Supervisor evaluation (observation on the job)

Weeks 6 - 8

  • Shift control skills
  • Loss Control
  • Shadowing manager
  • Daily administration
  • People Management

Week 9

  • Food safety & product quality
  • Basic Management Training Course
  • Roles & Responsibilities
  • Teamwork
  • Customer Service

Weeks 10 - 12

  • Shift running (under supervision)
  • Feedback on management skills

Continually developing your skills

Once you have completed our Basic Management Training (BMT) you will spend time developing your managerial skills and practice running shifts. You'll be supported by experienced managers who will coach you and provide regular feedback.

Even when you become a fully qualified Assistant Manager, there are still plenty of courses on offer on subjects such as Health & Safety, Recruitment & Retention and Performance Management - so your training never really ends!

Tailor made courses play an important part in our Restaurant Manager's careers too. Courses such as our 'Advanced Restaurant Operations Course' develops your ability to manage the administrative and financial aspects of running a restaurant, whilst 'People the Winning Edge' helps you to develop vital skills in people management.

At BURGER KING® we are passionate about everything we do. Our UK and International Office, known as the Restaurant Support Centre (RSC), is based in Uxbridge. Marketing, Supply, Finance, Systems, Property, Loss Control, Legal, Communication and HR teams, together with our field-based Area Manager, auditors and trainers, are all dedicated to supporting our restaurants in delivering a superior experience to every customer every day.
