October 2004 Manchester It’s a case of ‘let’s go mayo mental’, as
Mancunians called for more of the continental condiment in a new BURGER
KING‚ opinion poll.
To support the launch of its new You’re the Boss‘ campaign, BURGER KING‚
surveyed over 1300 people about their favourite burger fillings. Scoring
way over the national average, mayo left tomato sauce needing to ‘ketchup’
in Manchester.
Ketchup is squashed Tomato sauce is a national
institution, but according to the‘YOU’RE THE BOSS’™ survey, its popularity
may be slipping. Scoring just 23% of the vote, ketchup appeared near the
bottom of Manchester’s burger wish list.
Sub-tropical taste The survey also asked
consumers what alternative ingredients they would like to see in their
burgers. In Manchester, the results showed that burger lovers definitely
don’t want a tropical taste in their burgers, with pineapple scoring its
lowest percentage of the vote nationwide.
“From Manchester to Margate, Glasgow to Greater London we all have our
preferences in what we like in a burger,” says Paul Reynish, BURGER KING®
Marketing Director. “If Mancunians love mayo, then that’s what we’ll give
them. If they want treble pickle, no lettuce and extra onion, they can
have that too. We all have our preferences. That’s why we treat people
as individuals. You can have any of our sandwiches any way you like because
at BURGER KING‚ You’re the Boss‘.”
