October 2004 Sheffield It’s a case of ‘bring on the onions’, as burger
fans in Sheffield called for more of that onion bite in their burgers.
Scoring well over the national average, onions raced to the top of the
Sheffield burger filling league table in a new BURGER KING‚ opinion poll
conducted to support the launch of its new You’re the Boss‘ campaign.
Ketchup is squashed Tomato sauce is a national
institution, but according to the 1300 people surveyed, its popularity
may be slipping. Scoring just 24% of the vote in Sheffield, our love for
mayonnaise has left ketchup playing catch up.
A Bit of the Blue Stuff The survey also
asked consumers what alternative ingredients they would like to see in
their burgers. In Sheffield, the results revealed a taste for blue cheese,
with a percentage much higher than the national average strong flavours
all around for Sheffield!
“From Sheffield to Stoke, Glasgow to Greater London we all have our preferences
in what we like in a burger,” says Paul Reynish, BURGER KING® Marketing
Director. “If people from Sheffield love onions, then that’s what we’ll
give them. If they want treble pickle, no lettuce and extra cheese, they
can have that too. We all have our preferences. That’s why we treat people
as individuals. You can have any of our sandwiches any way you like because
at BURGER KING‚ You’re the Boss‘.”
