October 2004 South West It’s a case of ‘let’s go mayo mental’, as
Southern burger fans called for more of the continental condiment in a
new BURGER KING‚ opinion poll.
To support the launch of its new You’re the Boss‘ campaign, BURGER KING‚
surveyed over 1300 people about their favourite burger fillings. Scoring
way over the national average, mayo left tomato sauce needing to ‘ketchup’
in the South West.
Feel the Burn In addition, the survey said
that Southerners are twice as likely go for spicy fillings, such as mustard
and jalapeno peppers, than people in the North. Looks like Northerners
prefer the flames on the burgers, not in their mouths.
Totally Tropical The survey also asked
consumers what alternative ingredients they would like to see in their
burgers. In the South West, results revealed a taste for the tropical.
Pineapple weighed in with its best score nationwide, coming a close runner-up
to national winner mushrooms.
“From Bournemouth to Bradford, Glasgow to Greater London we all have
our preferences in what we like in a burger,” says Paul Reynish, BURGER
KING® Marketing Director. “If people from the South West love mayo, then
that’s what we’ll give them. If they want treble pickle, no lettuce and
extra onion, they can have that too. We all have our preferences. That’s
why we treat people as individuals. You can have any of our sandwiches
any way you like because at BURGER KING‚ You’re the Boss‘.”
