29th November 2004: BURGER KING® staff are swapping their uniforms for
baker’s whites today (Monday 29th November), after the company became
the first burger restaurant chain in the UK to bake and serve fresh baguettes.
The launch has seen over £0.75 million pounds invested into Scotland,
which will be first to serve the new products.
The launch of the baguettes has seen staff undergo a rigorous training programme,
as well as the installation of new ovens, so the baguettes can be baked
freshly on the premises throughout the day.
The new baguettes come with a choice of four tasty fillings; Cajun Black
and Blue Chicken, Chicken BLT, Monterey Melt and Piri Piri Chicken* (please
see notes to editors).
The move is part of BURGER KING’S® overall innovation strategy
to give customers even more choice. Last month, saw the launch of TenderCrisp™
and Spicy TenderCrisp™ sandwiches, BURGER KING’S® biggest
ever chicken sandwiches made from premium chicken breast.
BURGER KING® UK Marketing Director, Paul Reynish comments: “The

Four Fresh Baked Baguettes
• Cajun Black & Blue Chicken: with 100% flame-grilled chicken
breast, fresh rocket, sliced cucumber and creamy blue cheese or low fat
mayonnaise.
• Piri Piri Chicken with 100% flame grilled chicken breast, authentic
Southern African recipe piri piri, iceberg lettuce and creamy or low fat
mayonnaise.
• Monterey Pepper Melt: with 100% flame grilled beef, Monterey pepper
cheese, red onion and creamy or low fat mayonnaise.
