LONDON – On November 1st BURGER KING®’s new “Manthem” advertising campaign launches on UK TV screens.
Created by advertising agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky, the 60-second advertisement shows hungry men joining together to literally sing the praises of the 100% pure beef DOUBLE WHOPPER® burger. During the advertisement, a growing group of ‘manly men’ swear off ‘chick food’ and seek out the DOUBLE WHOPPER® to satisfy their hunger cravings, whilst singing a masculine parody of Helen Reddy's 1972’s original ‘I Am Woman’ song. It is from the ‘I am Man’ song that the spot takes its name, “Manthem” – i.e.“Man–anthem”.
The ad, particularly its soundtrack, has already caused a stir in the US. Recent news coverage of men’s desire to re-assert more traditional aspects of ‘manliness’, proves the advertisement’s UK arrival is particularly timely.
The ‘Manthem’ advertisement will run on terrestrial and satellite TV channels during November, targeting programmes biased towards a male demographic.
David Kisilevsky, Senior Marketing Director, North West Europe comments: “The 100% pure beef DOUBLE WHOPPER® is squarely aimed at the manly burger lovers out there. As the ad so humorously communicates, BURGER KING® is the best place to go if you want to enjoy a great tasting, 100% pure beef burger. 2006 has already seen the arrival of Bloke Coke and with tongue firmly in cheek BURGER KING® now celebrate the Bloke Burger.”
