BURGER KING ® UK today announced that from 22nd December 2006, the company will no longer create or show television advertisements for children in the United Kingdom. Additionally, BURGER KING® will no longer advertise during children's TV programming in the UK, it was announced today by Giorgio Minardi, Burger King Divisional Vice President of Northwest Europe.
Minardi said, "Our decision regarding kids' advertising in the UK is the right step for Burger King in this market at this time. During the past six months in the UK, we have carefully considered this and other broad-spectrum initiatives regarding our marketing and brand positioning.
"We will concentrate our marketing promotions on the outstanding quality of our food as well as consumer choice – the Have It Your Way brand platform. We're the original home of the highest quality, 100 percent beef burger, and we'll soon be making further marketing and product announcements that will reinforce quality, taste and choice in all our restaurants.
"All nutritional information can be found on the company's website, www.burgerking.co.uk. This allows users to build meals and then see nutritional information about their particular meal.
Minardi said, "We are focused on providing our restaurant guests with comprehensive nutritional information, with healthy menu choices and with furthering our commitment to the Have It Your Way® brand promise, which means that all guests at every restaurant can ask for menu substitutions or additions to suits their dietary needs."
